Birthspirit's - Self-employed Beginnings Workshop - 2012 Programme
Continuity of care is the cornerstone of maternity care in New Zealand with at least 75 percent of women receiving this continuity from a midwife Lead Maternity Carer.This interactive 2 day workshop aims to assist the midwife entering self-employed practice with practical tools and strategies so she can:
  • Determine practice partnerships and caseload levels
  • Set up business systems
  • Establish and maintain professional networks
  • Work with Referral Criteria
  • Manage her time and energy
  • Maintain a sense of self and well being

Facilitator

Maggie Banks (PhD, RM, RGON) is an independent midwifery educator with 22 years experience as a home birth midwife in the Waikato. She has published two books and numerous articles.

Midwifery Council's Recertification Programme

Birthspirit's Self-employed Beginnings Workshop has been approved by Midwifery Council and allocated 10 points in the elective education category of Council’s Recertification Programme for Midwives. Certificates will be issued on the day.
